CINDY RUBI ESTRADA
Born in East Harlem and raised in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Cindy Estrada started her career in business at the tender age of 19 when she opened a women’s designer boutique in 1972. In 1979, Cindy started her second business, Woop’s Manufacturing, a clothing manufacturing company, producing children’s Olympic Sweaters during the 1980 Winter Olympic Games. After working as Vice President of Corporate Travel Services for four years, Cindy joined Nick Lugo Travel in 1988 as a partner and later as a consultant. Always involved with her local community, she became involved with Somos El Futuro, a non-profit organization working to increase Hispanic participation in the public policy decisions. Cindy has been Executive Director of the New York City Hispanic Chamber of Commerce since it’s origin in 2006. Since then, Cindy has seen the growth of NYCHCC’s membership and the overall impact it has had on the local business community it serves.
